This renovation of a 1960s cottage on Leisure Isle, Knysna, pays homage to the lighthouses and fishermen’s cottages of the Garden Route while re-imagining coastal living. Within the existing footprint, the design enhances spatial efficiency and strengthens the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. A simplified yet refined material palette complements the home’s setting, while subtle architectural gestures retain glimpses of the original house.
